About the Artist
Bella Stercula is a mixed-medium visual artist living in Boston, MA. Originally from Los Angeles, Bella has spent the last decade exploring her artistry through various means. From acrylic painting, drawing, and digital illustration to mosaics, stained glass, and game design, she expresses her wide array of artistic abilities through a unique lens of “whimsigoth” tendencies.
With a BA in Game Art and Design, Bella has explored a variety of artistic outlets personally and professionally, including her illustrations being published in three of the “Nurse Florence” books on children’s medical literacy. Additionally, her work has been showcased at the 2026 Pancakes and Booze art show and 2026 Medford Open Studios Art Fair. She was also lead concept artist for the SNHU Game Design challenge and she has provided numerous commissions for both businesses and individuals.
Bella is staunchly against the use of AI-generated artwork. Her conviction stems from a strongly held belief that AI in lieu of human output defeats the integrity and purpose of artistic creation and diminishes the power of vision, imagination, and self-expression. Instead, she retains a firm belief in the emotional, therapeutic, and expressive traits inherent in artistry, herself drawing from a range of passions and influences, including D&D, science fiction, and fantasy. Additionally, and possibly most importantly, she is obsessed with cats, having two of her own.
Bella’s other interests include tabletop RPGs, video games, fantasy and horror literature, mycology, and an obsessive fixation with the color purple. Professionally, she has served in various teaching positions over the last decade, she is a vegetarian, a first-generation Italian-American, and her ultimate life goal is to befriend a Corvid. Her favorite holiday being Halloween has bled into a lifestyle in which “every season is spooky season.” Stylistically, she has found influence and inspiration from cottagecore, goblincore, and the aforementioned whimsigoth aesthetics.
Seeking authenticity, and in constant pursuit of new ways to explore her creativity, Bella’s artistic path is a journey without end. Always observing the world around her and finding new passions and interests along the way, her curious spirit and deeply compassionate sensibilities continue to imbue her artistry with a refreshing degree of whimsy.
